Do you ever feel the pull between the eternal and the temporal?

Last month I talked about our heart being where our treasure is. And it had me thinking about how my temporal treasure tries to pull me from the eternal ones. What are those things that are eternal? God (who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow), His Word (which is the ultimate authority on everything), and people’s souls (whose inherent worth exists because they are made in the image of God). Those three things are what last forever. Or, if I can quote from Sandlot, “FOR….EV….VER”!

The pull, or the tension arises from the questions I ask myself: “Am I investing in the eternal?” And, “How much am I investing?” I want to be making choices to be a faithful follower of the eternal God. I want to deliver the Word of God to others in a loving and humble way, to those who may or may not be far from God. I hope my personal family sees me that way. I want you, my Tri County family, to see me that way. I want my neighbors, my friends, and even those who only know me from a distance, to see a man who is investing heartily into the eternal, and that I’m growing to be a man that is not so easily pulled into the temporal to where it entangles my heart.

I’m thankful for those who hold me accountable, and encourage me towards treasuring the eternal things. Painful at times in the midst of the pull? Sure, but so worth the eventual outcome, both for myself and for those around me. And I’m so thankful for those of you at Tri County that I get to run alongside of for the greater purpose, the greater treasure.

There is a team going down to Guatemala this month to encourage (and be encouraged) by connecting with the kids we sponsor as a company at the care point, and hopefully connect with the leaders who make it all possible. Again, this is an ongoing commitment to be comforting others in a much more significant way than simply air conditioning somebody’s house. There are kids who are being given a chance to beat the odds against them, by getting nutrition, an education, mentoring, and a place of refuge from the harsh realities of living in incredibly challenging conditions. Puerta de Esperanza is literally translated “Door of Hope”, and when those kids walk through those blue metal doors every day, they are loved in such a way that their lives are forever changed. You help make this happen.

We are almost done with our first well!! We are at 98% of our goal in funding a water project in Chad, Africa, and there is a community in that country that is going to have a major change coming their way very soon because of the hard work everyone in the company has been doing over the past months contributing towards our profitability that funds these types of projects. And we’ve only just begun!

These guys are smart, sealing up the deal with some awesome ladies! Bryan and Julie are getting married in Georgia, and Clayton and Elianna are getting married in Myakka City, both on November 11th. If you want to bless them with a little something towards their honeymoons, you can find the link to their registries by clicking on their pictures. We’re thankful for what these two guys accomplish in our company in their respective positions, and celebrate with them as they begin this new chapter with the love of their lives. Congratulations guys!

We shared last month about Together We Can, a Tri County Air initiated effort to connect those in need with over 300 local churches, nonprofits, clubs, groups, and government agencies. We encouraged you to sign up to serve, and if you missed that issue, you can go back and see it here for that link.

This month we want you to become familiar with the link that gets people in need connected to the help available. When you come across customers, or neighbors and friends, or if you are in a season of unusual need, share or use this link to get registered and start the process of getting those needs met. You, or the person you have fill it out, will be contacted and served by the team led by Jim & Chris Foubister, whose vision and giftedness have brought this to life.

Every day, Lisa Chapman sends out an email letting everyone know she’s going home, well-deserved since she’s the first one in. She always shares a cartoon or meme that brings a smile, and sometimes outright laughter. Here are some recent favorites in case you missed them.

Stay safe on the roads out there. The Snow Birds are flocking back, and giving yourself margin may make all the difference in arriving at the next job with a happy disposition and readiness to serve. Be patient. Be kind. Be different than everyone else, so if someone is compelled to tell someone else about you and the service you delivered, it’s the kind of telling that you’ll be proud of. Thanks for all you do!
