February 2024 Newsletter

There is something beautiful about the posture of learning. It demands humility. It involves listening. It reveals a healthy curiosity. And it unveils someone who is growing in depth and capacity who is in turn able to share what they’ve learned and give it to others around them.

Things are always changing in the air conditioning industry, so there is always something to learn. And it’s more than just learning about what we may need to know for our part of the job. We also should be learning more about the jobs around us, how our part affects others, and how theirs affects us. We play just a portion of the function of providing comfort to our customers, so to learn how it fits together as a whole to make the best experience for the customer, as well as for those of us providing it, is crucial.

The areas we can be growing in are endless, but a few foundational areas are: the industry and the necessary skills involved, new comfort enhancements available and how they impact unique environments, communication skills (both the sharing and receiving sides of it) and how they relay vital information, and building relationships with those we work with and those we serve.

Our values are intertwined with our learning: expressing concern and kindness for each other, speaking and acting truthfully, demonstrating high regard for people, affecting eternity in the lives of others, exceeding expectations, and striving together towards a goal. These all work together so much better when we take the posture of learning through it all and grow alongside of each other. This coming year, let’s learn, about ourselves, each other, the business, and together, we will comfort all in such a way that they will be compelled to tell others about their experience, and it will honor the Great Comforter, Jesus Christ.

Our 2nd annual Comfort and Joy program went off without a hitch for such a deserving family. Tamara Moore, a single mom of three daughters, was trying to get her friends to nominate others when she was nominated instead! Here is their story. Click on the picture above for the video. Thanks to everyone who participated in making this story come to life!

Just wanted to say thank you to Geoff. It was great working with him as he had priced this for us and answering any questions that I had.”

Jane G.

Danielle Dettman gave me excellent customer service.”

Andy M.

Logan Guidry did a wonderful job and is an asset to the company. He explained everything he did and how my unit was running. What a wonderful technician!

Jeff W. (Again)

Jerzy and Pedro did an excellent job and were very conscience about the work they were doing and did a great job of communicating with either myself or our supervisor on what was needing to be done on our job. Both of these men cared about what they were doing and took pride in their work/trade. Service like this is why we use Tri County.”

We have identified six values that define who we are as a company, and who we want to continue to grow into being. You probably have seen posters around the offices, or the back wall in the Training Room that has these clearly displayed. What you may not have noticed before were the little statements that accompany each value, helping express their greater impact and application. Our desire is to see us all grow in our ability to memorize the values along with their definitions, so we can be more likely to call them to mind when given opportunity on the worksite or in the office, and live them out.

Towards that end, here is a fun tool in the link below to help you think through them, and to hopefully start memorizing them. Try it first without a cheat sheet like the picture above, get your score, and then try to improve it by taking it as many times as you want. You can download the picture above onto your phone and set it up as wallpaper if you want. And once you ace this one, we’ll introduce a little harder one next month. Take the Values & Statements Quiz 1.0 by clicking on this link. Good Luck!

Oh, and if you are able to recite all these things by memory without any outside help or cheat sheet to me (Rich Hart) before April 1st of this year, you’ll get a $10 gift card to either Publix or Starbucks. So let’s get ‘er done!

A lot of our conversations lately have been shaded by loss, wounds, pain, and fear due to the stories being played out in our lives. I imagine there are many more parts of our stories we have that are not even finding their way into a conversation because of the weightiness of them. They are just too hard to talk about.

In light of that, I wanted to share the following song with you by Cody Carnes that has been a comfort and reminder to me of the state of need we are all in, and Who we need to run to in the midst of it all. What stands out to me in the chorus is that this is not just a one time running, but a continual one, when it says “again and again and again and again”. Our stories need it. Our hearts demand it. And the Father never tires from it.

I Run To The Father by Cody Carnes

I’ve carried a burden for too long on my own
I wasn’t created to bear it alone
I hear Your invitation to let it all go
Yeah, I see it now, I’m laying it down
And I know that I need You

You saw my condition, had a plan from the start
Your Son for redemption, the price for my heart
And I don’t have a context for that kind of love
I don’t understand, I can’t comprehend
All I know is I need You

My heart has been in Your sights, long before my first breath
Running into Your arms is running to life from death
And I feel this rush deep in my chest
Your mercy is calling out, just as I am, You pull me in
And I know I need You now

I run to the Father, I fall into grace
I’m done with the hiding, no reason to wait
My heart needs a surgeon, my soul needs a friend
So I’ll run to the Father again and again and again

And again

Click on the song title above to hear the song, and if you want somebody running alongside of you to the Father, Barbie and I would be honored to run with you. Just reach out, and let’s run!
