Well, it’s Hurricane Season again, and while Beryl seems like it isn’t a threat to us, it is a reminder that there will be more on the way. I want to encourage you to look at the following infographic as well as check out the links below it in order to prepare now for what is sure to come soon. Don’t procrastinate on this. And due to the experiences we’ve had over the last couple of years, I don’t think I have to twist anybody’s arm to take this seriously. Create a plan, and place it someplace in your home or on your phone so you’re ready to act on it in a timely way.
We also have plans and procedures in place to help us as a company work through these type of scenarios. We will be communicating with you as an impending storm approaches so you can be aware of the steps being taken to ensure your safety both in and outside of the work environment. This will be shared through the Employee Resources page at http://www.tricountyair.com/employee-resources and will be updated throughout the event as needed.
You are important to me, and your safety and that of your family matters. While we hope to not have to face any major storms any time soon, know that we are taking steps should a big one come our way.
Hurricane Safety Month

Every family and business should have predefined emergency plans and always keep an emergency supply kit ready and stocked. Go to this link to Plan & Prepare.
Each Florida county has a designated emergency management program, and residents, businesses, and visitors should also visit their county’s emergency management for the most up-to-date and locally significant information.

Those of you who have agreed to write a child at Puerto de Esperanza in Guatemala have a simple way to do that now. There are updated links and directions in order to show some love and encouragement to the children that are sponsored by Tri County Air to participate in the vital care point that is associated with Children’s Hope Chest. Use the QR code above, or simply click on it to send a new letter. If you have any questions, reach out to Rich Hart with them, and let’s start with a fresh initiative in caring for these kids that so desperately need it.

Click on this link for an update on how we are doing with our ongoing campaign to provide fresh water to those without it. This is the progress we are making on our 3rd Well in Chad, Africa! Allow a couple of days for an update of the June numbers.

Each month, we are reminded to celebrate some very special people through their birthday and work anniversaries. Give these people affirmation and encouragement as they mark these special milestones.

Two Flags of Freedom
“For Those Who Fought For It, Freedom Has A Price The Protected Will Never Know”
I first read those words at a war memorial in Philadelphia when I was in college many years ago. It grabbed my attention then, and it still does today. Raised by a WW2 veteran who flew combat missions over Europe, I was given an early appreciation for our hard-earned freedom we enjoy in our country, and the American flag that represents it. He taught me that the red stripes on the flag stood for valor, and the blood that was shed by the soldiers in the battles through the years, first to win our independence, and then to protect it. It’s why I hardly let an opportunity slip by when I see a veteran wearing a hat or badge that identifies them as such, where I look them in the eye and thank them for their service. I don’t know their story, and I don’t have to. It’s enough that they fought for freedom in some capacity, paying a price that I, the protected, will never know. And the flag, especially those deep crimson stripes, are a reminder of the price that was paid of the ultimate sacrifice on my behalf. I love seeing that flag fly when I come in to work every day.
That other flag that hangs at our entrance is something I also grew up with an appreciation for. And while it doesn’t have crimson stripes, it does have a crimson cross, representing the ultimate sacrifice that was made on my behalf to acquire a different kind of freedom. It’s deeply personal for a few of us here, and while you don’t have to know our individual stories, the reality is that we are a pretty messed up bunch of people who were captive, not to the power of communism or fascism, but to the power and dominance of sin, and it showed up in a thousand different ways. But there was One who valiantly showed up on our behalf, and took the power and penalty of sin upon Himself, and defeated sin and death on a cross where His blood was shed on our behalf. So when I look at the cross on that flag, much like when I look at the stripes on the other, I’m grateful for the sacrifice made on my behalf. And I try not to let an opportunity slip by where I thank Him for what was accomplished for me on that cross.
So this Independence Day, however you choose to celebrate it, be reminded of the freedoms we enjoy due to the sacrifice of others. We are the protected ones, and our freedom has a price that we will never fully know and comprehend. But we can be thankful for those who fought for us, especially when we see the red on those flags and are reminded once again.
