My favorite donut is the Chocolate-covered, custard-filled, Long John from Daylight Donuts! So when we talk about delivering the 13th Donut around here, just know that is what I’m picturing in my brain.
Last month I highlighted our Net Promoter Score (NPS), and shared how thankful I am for how we as a company are all pulling together to continually increase that score through our continued excellence in service. That’s the chocolate on the donut! Another thing we measure is our Compelled To Tell score (C2T), which is a way we track how we’re doing on our mission. That’s the custard in the donut! What is our mission, you ask? “To comfort all in such a way that they are COMPELLED TO TELL others about their experience and it honors the Great Comforter Jesus Christ.” (emphasis added) We get that number by asking all of the Promoters “Have you told somebody about your experience?”, and taking the number of “Yes’s” divided by the number of total respondents, and that gives us our C2T score. We gave an example back at the Annual Meeting in February that if we had 90 respondents, if 70 are “Promoters”, and 35 of them answered “Yes” to the question above, our C2T score is 39 (35/90=39).
Ok, back out of the weeds! I’m simply wanting to emphasize that our mission sets such a high standard for people to feel compelled to tell others about their experience. And when we are increasing our influence with our promoters, we know we’re headed in the right direction, and establishing our reputation in the most believable way possible, by word of mouth. So this goes beyond just the Net Promoter Score, almost like adding the custard filling in a long john. Without the custard, it’s just another chocolate covered donut! Which is ok, I guess. But guess what? We are adding more and more filling this year. While we don’t know what the final number is going to be, we do know it’s tracking higher right now. Let’s finish the year strong, and we can all celebrate in the win! Oh, and a lot of you submitted numbers for our NPS & C2T scores back at the meeting. Below is a reminder of how we were tracking the last couple of years, and some of you are really close to where we might be ending up. A couple of you will be celebrating with $100 for being the closest, and the rest of us just might celebrate alongside you with some donuts!

First Aid Awareness Month

Last month we highlighted the SDS tool (Safety Data Sheets) that is available to you through the QR Codes in all the vehicles and in various areas around the property. It is vitally important to be aware of that tool BEFORE you need it, so you can easily navigate it in an emergency.
This month we are reminding you of other basic First Aid resources around you. There are First Aid Kits and also a fire extinguisher in every work vehicle. If you are a driver, inspect and ensure that those two things are there, as well as the QR Code sticker for the SDS tool. If any of those are missing, contact Duncan immediately to properly equip the vehicles. There are also a number of fire extinguishers that are strategically placed around the property, as well as an extensive First Aid Station placed just inside the door near the warehouse bathroom. That is continually restocked with essential supplies. There is an eyeWe have a Defibrillator Machine just inside the hallway from the First Aid station. There is a LifeVac Device in that location should someone be choking, as well as another one in the kitchen cabinet. We also had a number of people certified in CPR, so ask those around you if they’re ready to help you in an emergency.
“Safety Is No Accident” is a pretty good slogan that is thrown around, meaning, you have to be intentional to be safe. It doesn’t happen by accident. So give a look to your surroundings, the resources that are around you, and if you need a First Aid Quick Reference Chart, click on thIs link, and maybe save it to your favorites in your phone, so you always have it with you.

Sock Swap

On Thursday, October 17th, we are having a Sock Swap in the Kitchen at 12 noon. Yes, these need to be new pairs that have not been worn. Be looking for a pair of fuzzy, comfy, silly, goofy, or funny socks that you want to give, and hang them up on the clothesline in the Kitchen. Be sure to sign your name on the Laundry List to ensure you are given a number. Then we’ll draw numbers on the 17th, and go home with some fun, new socks. If you are remote or in the field, we will draw a number for you and choose socks for you as a group.

In Case You Missed It
“Clayton was at an install call, and a frantic neighbor came over and asked him to look at her unit as it was leaking water. To calm her, he walked over and took a quick look. He told her she needed to call the office to schedule a service call, but called Danielle Bush to add. Information to the call along with several pictures through Teams with some help for Kaitlynn in IT, downloading them in order to help the service tech. Different functions displaying teamwork to provide Service Excellence!”
From The Hart

The picture above hangs at my brother’s house. It captivated me the first time I saw it. I’ve shared it with a couple of you already, and had to remind myself of the significance of it because of an encounter I had recently with an upset customer.
If you don’t know the story behind it, it captures the moment a lady who had been severely ill for 13 years, a sickness that was embarrassing and left her feeling shame. She had spent all her money on doctors trying to get healed, all to no avail. She was desperate. Hearing that Jesus was passing nearby, she thought to herself that if she could just get close enough to touch the hem of his robe, that maybe she just might get healed.
So she lowers herself to where she wouldn’t be noticed, fighting through the crowd, reaches out, and barely brushes his garments. And it happens just like she hoped. She felt it coursing thought her veins. Immediately her body, which had been ravaged for over a decade, is suddenly and completely healed. Finally she can turn the page and start a new chapter of her life.
But not just yet. No, Jesus wants to be sure that she receives something more than mere physical healing. So He calls her out from her hiding and lowly posture, and brings her to himself. In the midst of the crowd, he announces her healing, and speaks peace over her. She, who had previously tried to stay hidden due to her shame, was brought forth and seen, not for her disease, but for her inherent worth as one made in the image of God, and was commended for her faith in Him. She received a healing of a whole different kind than she had been seeking, one that she so desperately needed.
So why did I share this picture with a few of you, and have it above my desk? Because we deal with people every day who are sometimes difficult to deal with, and this reminds me that there is more to everyone’s story than we may see on the surface, or hear in the tone of their conversation. There is fear, there are wounds, often shame, but always a story. Always. So if we can choose to speak grace into their hearts, and show kindness in the face of adversity. And maybe, just maybe, they will be given the chance for a fresh start in their story. And perhaps the next chapter for them will be different than the one they’re currently in, and hopefully coming out of. And we can play a part in that new chapter, if we’re willing.
The sobering reality for me is that the lady with the story doesn’t just give us a picture of the difficult people we have to deal with, it is also a picture of us. I am that person with shame, a wound, a story that I’m afraid will be exposed, and in desperation of wanting peace, of needing healing. If we’re honest, there is a part of us that is just like that lady, and we would be well served to put aside our pride and self-sufficiency, and reach out to the One who sees us, who really sees us, and who offers us a fresh start in life. He is eager to call us out and pronounce a blessing and peace over our life. And that makes all the difference.
