Billy Blurb

Last month I talked about the importance of keeping our mission and values in front of us so we don’t get distracted and wander from the path in front of us. But as we start a new year, I want to reinforce that it is not simply reminding ourselves of them (which we should always start with), but also encouraging those around us with these basic markers for us.
Why is this so important? We have had over 30 people start with with us since the beginning of last year. Let that sink in. That’s roughly 25% of the total number of employees we have right now. Those of you who have been around for a while know our culture, you know our values, and are here because you’re a good fit with us. You contribute to our success and great reputation as a company, because you have been making us that way. I am so thankful for those of you who have been with us for the long haul, because it has helped set our course.
But with a lot of relatively new hires, they are coming in with differing experiences from other places, where there were different ways of doing things. Now, we try to only hire those people who will be a good fit for our company and easily mesh with our culture. I am so excited for the fresh faces and new energy we have had join the team this past year. And while they hopefully bring with them some new insights, skills, and perspectives, we never want to stray from what makes us who we are.
So I’m challenging those of you who have been around awhile, take the initiative towards those who are newer, and invest in them. Train them. Teach them. Support them. Help them in the same way someone helped you get established when you started here. And my challenge to you who have joined us recently, keep learning. Ask questions. Develop yourselves, and become a part of the framework that has us continuing “To comfort all in such a way that they are compelled to tell others about their experience, and it honors the Great Comforter, Jesus Christ.”
Download the following picture of our values, and pull it out every now and then to consider how you can be implementing them, or helping someone else implement them into their work and life.

Invest In The Eternal
One of the ways we affect eternity in the lives of others as a company is by giving a portion of every service and maintenance call, as well as part of every install we do towards a well project in Chad, Africa in partnership with NeverThirst. They find villages that are willing to invest the minimal labor required and enter into an agreement to maintain a well over the coming years. It can impact a village’s long-term health, and gives an opportunity to free up their women and children to receive an education, as well as be cared for by an onsite partner that doesn’t just ensure they receive clean water, but also the Living Water through the Gospel. It takes all of us doing our individual parts, so thanks for working together towards this generous investment into the lives of those who are in desperate conditions. We are working on our fourth well already after only a year and a half! Click here to see our progress!

We get to celebrate some very special people through their birthday and work anniversaries. Give these people affirmation and encouragement as they mark these special milestones.

From The Hart

I try to pick a word at the start of every new year to help me grow in a certain way that would benefit me, and those around me, if I actually gave that word my attention. This year’s word is “Wisdom”, and I’m hoping to seek it, to share it, and to walk in it throughout this coming year. I have a lot of room to grow in wisdom, so I invite any of you who want to share with me some of your hard-earned insight to living life well, I’m open to receiving it! If you’ve got any books, podcasts, or any other source that has served you well in the past, I’d love to see if it would serve me as well.
I also would invite you to consider different ways you could develop this coming year. There is so much free stuff around us on YouTube, podcasts, and streaming services, we could easily be overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of it all. And yet, to identify at least a few trusted sources for further development could set you up to benefit this coming year, as well as benefit the lives of those around you.
Here are some suggestions: 1) RightNow Media is an extensive library of training, teaching, and helpful media productions that cover topics such as finances, marriage & family, leadership, teamwork, addiction & behavior management, and faith. This is a free resource provided to anyone in our company who wants it, and this is for your family members as well. 2) Mineral Training. I know, I know, you can’t wait to NOT have to ever sign on there again for your required training! But did you know that there are hundreds of other courses available for your professional development in areas like communication, management, and delegation? Sign in and look around at the training that is available to you, for free, that could be just the thing you need to take the next step in your career path. 3) Support Groups like Financial Peace University, Grief Share, Celebrate Recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous, and others like them are offered around the community in different places and at different times. You might find that having a community of others supporting you might make all the difference in breaking through some strongholds that have been holding you back.
We’re available to help you chart a course in any of these areas. We can get you signed up for RightNow Media, explore areas you want to grow in professionally, and help you get connected to a support group that helps you have your best year imaginable. Reach out to Barbie or me, and let’s walk in wisdom together this year.
