I’m competitive.
That’s no surprise to any of you who have been with me on a ball field, a disc golf course, or even a fishing boat. So when I was invited to play pickleball a few weeks back, I was all in. Like, all in. In my mind, I was crushing it. But while the mind may not age, it forgets, and it is supposed to remind my body that it can’t keep doing what it used to do. Unfortunately, my body had a limit that my mind forgot to remind me of, so you’ve probably seen me limping around over the past few weeks.
“Ustah” ain’t around here anymore!”
This was a saying one of our old office managers was known to repeat. As an older lady, it impressed me that she was in step with the progress that needed to be adapted to. It was an encouragement to not live in the past. What may have worked two years ago may not work now. Things are changing, rapidly, and we need to embrace the change that helps us move forward and ahead.
There is a huge difference from what I used to do and how I did it compared to what I need to do the same thing now. The tools and technologies that are available to do it with greater efficiency and expertise is mind-boggling. To not use them would be even more mind-boggling, so I’m trying not to be caught with that “Ustah” mentality. Instead, I listen and learn so I can accomplish so much more than what my limitations would normally be.
While much remains the same in the realm of air conditioning, much has changed. We need to use the improved tools, extensive resources, hard-earned experience of others around us, and the updated processes and procedures that have been time-tested and improved on through the years. Being current with the training we offer as well as self-initiated development will help you know your limits, and at the same time equip you to broaden the scope and expertise of your work. It will guard us from functioning in the way we always “Ustah”, and help us continue to be the competitive force we know we can be.
Now if I can only figure out a way to apply that to Pickleball!

Mission Accomplished
The following letter was sent in response to the amazing service that was provided to them, so we are sharing it with you because of all the different parts that were represented (Compelled Customers, Scheduling, Sales, Installers, and even our CEO) that all worked together to accomplish the Mission: To Comfort All In Such A Way That They Are Compelled To Tell Others About Their Experience, And It Honors The Great Comforter Jesus Christ.
Dear Geoff,
My husband & I wanted to reach out to you (and Bill) and let you know how very pleased we are with Tri County Air. My neighbor & friend Denise Kaiser reached out to Bill for us as we needed an estimate for a new HVAC system. That same evening (Sunday I might add) we heard from Sheila and our appt. for that estimate was booked.
Enter Geoff, you were Awesome! You spent a lot of time here, asked us alot of questions, went in the attic, took pictures and drew plans for us to meet our a/c needs. We were VERY impressed with your knowledge & customer focus.
This past Tuesday & Wednesday we had 3 young men come to install the new unit. I’ll call them the Dream Team! Evan, Cole & Grayson were polite, respectful of our property, knowledgable & worked their tails off as a team! They all had great personalities and we appreciated how informative they were and how clean they left our garage!
The Customer Experience from start to finish was Exceptional! We feel blessed knowing that Tri County Air has our backs going forward should we need assistance. We look forward to referring Tri County Air to our friends and neighbors! Please make sure you let Evan, Cole & Grayson know that they are appreciated!

From The Hart

My overly simple definition of “leadership” is influence. In that sense, we are all leaders, whether we have the title or not. So we all have influence, either in a positive way, or, a negative way. So when I read the following from Jon Gordon, I wanted to share it for all of us to consider how to keep leaning into being positive leaders, having a positive influence on those around us. I hope you enjoy it:
“Positive leaders don’t lead because they want recognition or enemies. They lead because there is something they must do, build, create, transform, and change. They lead because it’s who they are and what they are meant to do. However, with leadership comes scrutiny, praise, critics, and attacks. A leader could find a cure for cancer and would still have some people criticize them for it. There was even once a leader who transformed the world by feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and loving the unlovable, and yet he was killed for it. If you are a leader, expect to be attacked. Positive leadership doesn’t mean you won’t be criticized. It means you have the grit and belief to overcome it. Positive leaders don’t lead in a tranquil sea of positivity, but through the storms of adversity and negativity.
Leadership is knowing that the critics will criticize you while still saying what needs to be said and doing what needs to be done. History doesn’t remember the critics. It remembers the one who withstood criticism to accomplish something great.
In our modern social-media–driven world, you will have more fans and critics than ever. The keys are: Don’t let praise go to your head and don’t let critics into your head. Be so invested in your craft that you don’t have time to listen to the naysayers. No time for negativity. You’re too busy creating the future. If I would have listened to the naysayers and critics, I would have stopped working on my craft years ago. I want to encourage you to never let the opinion of others define you and your future. Your identity doesn’t come from what the world says about you. It comes from who you are on the inside. Your work, leadership, and mission are too important to allow others to define your destiny.”
